HOCKEY: STALWART hockey player Shannon Harvey has been presented with a Jack Petchey Award. She was given the accolade by Thurrock Hockey Club president Glenda Stephens.
The achievement award took place between her Ladies’ third string game and the clubs’ men’s second string encounter at Palmer’s College at the weekend. Harvey began her playing career with the club’s thriving mini hockey players at the age of eight.
She is now old enough to play in the ladies team. She confidently plays at senior level and shows the potential to play at higher levels too. Stephens said: “She is a committed club member who always attends training. “Shannon also helps with the catering and organisation of mini/youth tournaments held at the club,” she added.
For all sport see the THURROCK GAZETTE every Thursday.
