ATHLETICS: A HOST of Thurrock Harriers were in action at the Southern Indoor Championships at Lee Valley.
Joe Winn was a fine fifth place in the under-17 men’s high jump with a best clearance of 1.85m Alex Dargan was fourth in the under-17 men’s shot-putt (8.14m) while Charlie Splarn was fifth in the same event for the under-15 boys (9.91m) and Seniz Jessener sixth in the same event for the under-15 girls (7.77m), one place ahead of team-mate Rhea Stavri (5.75m).
Stavri was also 12th in the long jump (3.58m) just behind team-mate Jessica Whitbread (ninth, 4.02m).
Beth James (under-17) was 11th in the long jump (3.68m) and 13th in the shot-putt (6.75m).
Nedum Okonyia jumped 4.26m for eighth in the under 15 boys’ lon g jump while senior woman Natalie Lebeau was ninth, also in the long jump, 4.93m.
