LADIES FOOTBALL: C&K BASILDON Ladies are hoping to finally be able to put their FA Cup 2nd Round Cup with West Ham Ladies to bed.

The match lhas fallen victim to the waterlogged ground and now C&K are hopeful - although not positive - that their clash at Basildon’s Selex sportsground will take place at 1pm on Sunday January 19.

Pundits believe that the on form new town team have a decent chance of nabbing victory thanks to a balanced squad and some very talented individuals - including players from the now defunct Colchester United Academy system.

C&K’s sports therapist Alan Richards said: “We’re due to play on Sunday, however, having seen the weather forecast I think that even at this early stage it is 50:50 as to whether the game is going ahead.

“The FA Cup will take priority over all other fixtures, so if it is postponed again on Sunday, then it will be rearranged for the following Sunday (January 26th) and so on.

“There will be a pitch inspection on Saturday morning,” he added. Basildon made the seconsd round of the competition following a first round defeat of KIKK United way back in early December.

And, if the game does get the go-ahead C&K will be hoping that Sara Sinclair and Amy Nash have their scoring boots on as they did in that earlier encounter.
