SEA ANGLING: SPORT has been seriously affected by the wind and rain this week in the south of the county.

There are no reports from Southend Pier or beaches. Anglers have had to travel further afield, with sport in north Essex being better.

Thamesmead: Eddie Sharp reports that only the occasional flounder has been landed.

Erith: It is whiting only at Morrison’s Jetty.

Belvedere: Whiting and flounders have been landed but not in great numbers.

Gravesend: Graham, from Dolphin Angling, reports whiting, flounders and codling to 3lb.

Greenhythe: Only flounders have been caught and, as ever, when the Thames Barrier is closed the fish dry up.

River Crouch: Whiting and codling.

River Roach: Flounders and the occasional eel have been caught.

Walton Pier: Codling to 4lb, whiting and dabs.

Frinton Town Beach: Codling to 2lb and whiting to 1lb have been taken.

Clacton Pier: Codling to 3.5lb and some decent whiting have been reported.

Clacton: Anglers have caught four to five decent codling in a daylight session and more after dark.
