Knight bags goals

Thurrock 3,

Barkingside 0

RYMAN ONE NORTH: DAVID Knight bagged two for Fleet as they beat Barkingside 3-0 on Monday night.

Knight, who signed from Met Police in September, has now scored 12 goals in 13 appearances for Fleet – helping them to five wins in their last seven league games.

Mark Stimson’s side now sit third in Ryman Division One North, seven points off leaders VCD and well among the play-off contenders following an impressive run in November where they have conceded just three league goals.

At Barkingside on Monday night, Rob Clark hit a superb long range effort early in the second half to break the deadlock before Knight struck twice in the space of four minutes to put Fleet three up. The in-form striker missed out on a hat trick when his spot kick was saved by Barkingside stopper Chris Clark. Thurrock take on fellow promotion hopefuls Dereham Town in Norfolk on Saturday.
