Thurrock will play in T Rippon Premier next year following great season

CRICKET: Thurrock secured promotion to the Premier Division of the T Rippon Mid Essex League with a comprehensive 133 run over an already relegated Little Waltham side.
Home skipper Nick Henry won the toss and elected to bat first on a good batting track, after the early loss of opener Mason Wren for 4, debutant opener Dean Henry and brother Nick proceeded to take to the visitors bowling in determined fashion as the brothers put on 224 for the 2nd wicket before Dean fell for an excellent 72.
Nick Henry went to his 3rd league 100 of the season before eventually falling for a quickfire 133. All-rounder Danny Laird got in on the action with a well-made 68 as the hosts posted an imposing 344 of their 45 overs.
With the hosts feeling confident on victory going into the second half, opening bowler Madder struck 2 early blows and Laird 1 to leave the visitors on the rack at 29 for 3. The 4th wicket pair of Mahmood (41) and Nasir put on 61 to bring the visitors back into the game before Andrew Hills (2/17) removed Nasir LBW for 21 with Mahmood then bowled by Rob Neal the very next over. Ruffle (39) and Fell (34) helped the visitors past the 200 mark before Clarke Wren (2/27) wrapped up the game and spark the promotion celebrations that lasted long into the evening.
