Orsett GC beat Thorndon Park

GOLF: ORSETT beat Thorndon Park 3½ - 1½ in the second round of the Mail on Sunday inter club knockout competition only weeks after knocking out another local rival Boyce Hill in the 1st round.

Despite the recent poor weather Orsett’s course was in tip top condition and the home team took full advantage taking early control over a strong Thorndon team with fine performances from Carl Vanderhook and Colin Hodges both winning their matches 2&1.

They were followed by Joe Knight who halved.

The final result was sealed when young Zach Chegwidden, right, playing in his first ever match for the club cruised home 6&5. Warren Girt was the only casualty losing out on the 18th.
