West Ham legend's view on controversial Fleet game

NON-LEAGUE: West Ham legend Julian Dicks had some interesting things to say about the weekend's most controversial non-league game.

He said: "It was a shock to hear about Wingate having five sent off against Thurrock and the game being abandoned but, unless you were there, you can’t really judge the red cards that were handed out.

"What I would say is that I think it shows just how easy it is to do that in a game at any level nowadays because it is so easy to get sent off.

"It can be as simple as swearing at a referee or sometimes you might just get a ref who has had a row with his missus and has decided to take it out on the players!

"But I’ve never heard of that many in one team being sent off at any level, and I’m sure the Ryman League will take a dim view of it," he added.
