Formula Ford Rookie of the Year to show off his car tomorrow

MOTORSPORT: LAST year’s Formula Ford Rookie of the year, Thurrock’s George Blundell can hardly wait for the new season to get underway to show how much he’s improved. The former Chafford Hundred Campus student believes Brands Hatch will show the crowds that his Rookie title – and third overall in the highly competitive Ford last season – was no fluke.

This Sunday the 20-year-old driver will be showing off his car at the Tesco store at Lakeside’s Retail Park.

He’ll be hoping to meet fans old and new – as well as introducing himself to other motorsports fans from the borough.

He said: “The first event of the new season is at Brands Hatch at the Easter weekend. It’s going to be a test because, although the circuit’s not that big, it is a non-stop circuit.

“The Indy circuit has no room for braking, so it’s a real workout for the drivers. “It’s physically challenging – but I’m ready for it,” he added.

Blundell will be at the retail park from 9am to 4pm.
