Bingham comes back from the dead
12:13pm Friday 15th February 2013 in Sport
SNOOKER: STUART Bingham came back from the dead to book his place in the quarter-finals of the Welsh Open, writes James Colasanti.
The Vange star was 50 points behind with just 51 on the baize when he took to the table in the final frame decider against Australian Neil Robertson.
But the World number ten cleared up in stunning fashion to take the match 4-3 and book himself a clash with Ken Doherty in today’s quarter-final.
Bingham looked in confident mood early on. Despite losing the opening frame, he won the next two, making a 120 break on his way to winning the third.
But Robertson, the world number three, won the next two before Bingham set up a last-frame decider.
And that was going the way of Robertson before Bingham’s last-gasp heroics.
