Perarson, and Barnard among the success stories of Sportshall competition

ATHLETICS: A HOST of local athletes were part of the Essex team that competed in the East of England Sportshall athletics championships in Norwich.

Basildon AC’s Thomas Wakeling plus Jack and Charlier Teager-Neale, as well as Thurrock Harriers’ Liam Barnard were part of the under-13 boys team that finished third, while Southend AC’s Brogan Ravenhall, Harriers’ duo Elena March and Samiz Jessener plus FitzWimarc School’s Jessica Down were members of the silver medal winning under-13 girls team.

Down, who competes for Chelmsford AC, won an individual gold medal in the high jump, clearing 1.42m.

Thurrock Harriers’ James Pearson and Tyler Chu were in the under-15 boys team that finished third.
