RYMAN PREMIER: Canvey Island’s Ryman Premier match at Thurrock on Tuesday was abandoned at half-time due to a torrential downpour.
The game was goalless but the Gulls had had the better chances in the opening 45 minutes, with Harrison Chatting thumping a shot against the crossbar.
The rain had been constant throughout the first half, and another downpour after the interval forced the referee to call it off. Under league rules, Thurrock are not obliged to offer a refund to fans.
A statement on the Canvey website explains: “The Ryman league handbook states that refunds are not applicable for matches which are abandoned during half time or afterwards.
“We intend to speak with Thurrock about the possibilities of reduced admission prices when the match is rearranged, but Thurrock are under no obligation to reduce prices should they not wish to.”
