INDOOR CRICKET: Orsett "A" remain the only undefeated team in the current U14 indoor six a side competition at Grays School following a 52-run demolition of Stanford on Friday evening.

The School Lane team powered their way to an unassailable 114 for the loss of two wickets as Will Gibbon led the way with 26 runs to his name. He found valuable support as Connor Boreham hit 19 not out while Harry Lockyer chipped in with 17 and Dylan Rose contributed 16 runs.

In reply, Stanford found Jack Plom to be too hot to handle as the Orsett bowler picked up four wickets at a cost of 24 runs and in doing so returned the second best bowling figures of the competition to date.

Callum McCarthy was the top scorer for Stanford with 25 but he could not prevent his team from being dismissed for 62 runs. Meanwhile, Thurrock "B" enjoyed a four-wicket win over Belhus with 2.3 overs remaining.

The Blackshots-based side had failed to score from an impressive first over from George Maidment as Belhus were defending their score of 94 for the loss of two wickets, but then the Thurrock "B" batsmen unleashed a succession of six-hit drives which secured a comfortable victory by socring 97, also for the loss of two wickets.

No fewer than eight maximums were recorded in this innings with three coming off the bat of Ben Northfield who was eventually bowled for 19 runs. Keiron Gore hit two sixes in an undefeated cameo of 15, while opening batsman Connor Ramm and number three Harry Dove reached the boundary wall on the full on one occasion each, to finish with 18 and 26 not out respectively.

Earlier, Billy Maidment hit two sixes for Belhus as he finished on 25 not out, while Eathan Morris struck one maximum in his undefeated knock of 15 runs. Four bowlers each picked up one wicket, being Gore and Ramm (Thurrock "B"), George Maidment and Mark Fogg (Belhus).
