9:47am Friday 18th January 2013 in Sport
MOTORSPORT: FORMULA Ford Rookie of the Year, George Blundell went back to his old school to show off his racingcar.
The Thurrock-based driver, one of the fastest on the Formula Ford circuit last season, took his car to The Harris Academy – the old Chafford Hundred Campus – to wow students.
And the young racer’s dedication and achievements, from karting success to Formula Ford impressed the youngsters who flocked round his lightweight racer. Blundell also launched his partnership with Fan Powered Racer a company which gives local businesses the chance to have their name on the side of his car.
Blundell said: “It was great to be back in my old school.
“The pupils wanted to know all about my racing career and how I’d done.” “Both the lads and the girls were impressed by my car which is pretty amazing when you get a first look at it. And the school were kind enough to let me tell them about my sport and ambitions.
“The ice and snow’s knocking my training on the head at the momnent, but I’m still working on my fitness and also trying to promote the Fan Powered idea which is a great way for companies to support racers.”
The scheme’s membership package costs just £65 for the year and for that companies get their face on Blundell’s car for the whole of the 2013 season. Suporters also get a t-shirt and the chance to win race day tickets, hospitality and grid walks for all Formula Ford races.
