Concord to host Grays in semi final
4:48pm Friday 11th January 2013 in Sport
ESSEX SENIOR CUP: Concord Rangers host Grays Athletic, while Waltham Abbey or Southend United will welcome AFC Hornchurch in the Semi-Finals of the Essex Senior Cup after the draw was made for the last four of the competition at the radio station’s New London Road studios in Chelmsford.
Hornchurch, who won a seven-goal thriller to knock out Football League club Colchester United in the last round, await the winners of the Abbey and Southend rearranged clash on Wednesday 23rd January to see who they’ll face. The Urchins were the winners of the Senior Cup at Roots Hall in 2007, so they could be heading there once more.
Meanwhile, Concord and Chelmsford City fought out a 3-3 draw before Rangers won on penalties and Grays struck twice late in their game at Barking to win 2-1. Concord are currently in the highest position in their history in the Ryman League Premier Division and Athletic are going well in Division One North. The pair now compete for a place in the final.
The Semi-Finals are due to be completed on or before 9 February, with all information on dates as they’re confirmed and fixtures and results for any of Essex’s County Cups available online at www.essexfa.com.
Semi-Finals (on or before 9th February): Concord Rangers vs Grays Athletic; Waltham Abbey or Southend United vs AFC Hornchurch.
