SWIMMING: THURROCK Swimming Club has become a Swim 21 Accredited Club for Competitive Development and Masters Foundation. The awrd came after a gruelling 11-month audit process covering 50 modules.

The process tested the club in all aspects of running a well managed, focused and successful swimming club.

The accreditation means that Thurrock Swimming Club is dedicated to creating the best possible swimming experience for all and to raising the quality of swimming provision across all areas of swimming. It is more than a simple badge of honour. It guarantees parents that the quality of provision of swimming for children is of the highest quality. Club secretary Hazel Day was formally presented with the Club’s Swim 21 Certificate of Accreditation by Paul Hayes, President of the ASA East Region.

RECENTLY Thurrock Swimming Club travelled overseas to Colonia Saint Jordi in Majorca to a warm weather training camp,m Under the direction of Thurrock's Head Coach, Alan Mitchell and Senior Assistant Coach, Paul Hayes. Twenty swimmers took part.

The swimmers rubbed shoulders with teams from the UK and around the Worldand the swimmers managed to clock up 80,000 metres over 14 sessions. In a busy season of competing with galas in November including the Luton Inaugural Meet and the Essex County ASA Winter Long Course Championships. The Club are then hosting a County Qualifier in December at Blackshots Leisure Centre, with more galas up and down the country to follow next year.

Swimmers of the Week winning Best Swim Centre t-shirts were Imagine Stuart and Luke Crofts, both swimmers from the Club’s National Age Group Squad.

Team manager Hazel Day said: “Camps of this calibre give swimmers the chance to experience what it feels like to be part of an international camp away from home and prepares them for the bigger stage in the swimming world.”
