The Vanity Clause is an Electro / Nu Wave trio from Southend-on-sea. Band members are Russell Harris, David Woods and Louisa Strachan. TVC have been in their current line up since January 2009, are already making a name for themselves on the London circuit and causing quite a stir locally.

Heavily influenced by the 80's sounds of bands such as Ultravox and Depeche Mode, and interest in current acts like Ladytron, La Roux and Little Boots, the twist is owed to the rock background of both David and Russell and the Soul and dance influences of Louisa. This should all go some way to explaining the slightly quirky and new sound that is The Vanity Clause.

The most recent achievements include being played on the Tom Robinson show on BBC radio 6 music, reaching number 6 on the UK unsigned charts and are fresh from supporting Ed Larrikin's The Pan I Am on the Southend fringe festival. 2009 is proving to be a significant year for The Vanity Clause and with a tour of Germany and their debut album set for release later this year; things can only go from strength to strength.
