Lady Grey & The Earls
11:13am Tuesday 7th July 2009 in Local Bands
Name of band/act: Lady Grey And The Earls
Genre of band: Indie/Rock
Information about the band: Lady Grey and the Earls are a five piece Indie band from Essex, UK.
As a band we have a wide range of influences ranging from Muse, Foo Fighters, Skunk Anansie and Oasis to Stevie Wonder and the Temptations. We like music to have a good sound, with great melody and lyrics, followed by strong music which carries the song through.
Biography
Amy Clayton is the lead Vocalist. Amy previously fronted Fonchi, a singed band who combined RnB vocals with metal music. This vocalist brings to the songs great melodic sounds and a brilliant power that most lead vocalists are missing.
Lead guitar is Paul Sowden. Having mastered his craft playing in bands such as Harbinger, Copious and Intern, Paul has become an outstanding lead guitar player. Paul gives to Lady Grey and the Earls great solos and an energy that pushes the songs to where most bands can't imagine.
Justin Cartledge is the bands rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist. Justin fronted bands in the past such as Persona, Moneypenny and Intern, but has now decided to concentrate on his song writing and guitar play. Justin's songs are full of what you want to hear: great melodies, driving music and top lyrics.
The bass guitar is Dave Bettis. Dave started life as a bass player in Persona with Justin, but then went onto bands such as Terrapin and Stratuside where he played the lead guitar. Having returned to the bass, Dave adds a solid bass where the music can be built from.
Lastly, but by no means least, there is Alex, a creative and experimental drummer who brings to the band the solid foundation that all songs need. Alex has played in bands such as Leftover Lucy, but she started of inspired by jazz drumming, then moved onto punk and is now plying her trade in this indie band. As a drummer Alex adds to Lady Grey and the Earls her own stand-out beats, which other bands wish they had. Lady Grey and the Earls are a band full of songs which are melodically powerful, with music that grabs you and won't let go. Both audibly and visually desirable, this is the band to be watching.
