Tiverton High School’s Year 9 boy’s rugby team are celebrating after a brilliant performance at a regional cup contest last week.
The Carnegie schools South-West England festival pits area winners from Devon, Somerset and Gloucestershire against each other in a one-day, league format competition.
Tiverton, working superbly as a unit all day, finished the competition without losing a match and were duly crowned South-West champions.
Coach Simon Morrell said: “The boys performed exceptionally well throughout and it was a real squad effort. The stand-out player was Jack Rainey who claimed the Man of the Tournament award.
The team’s success sees them through to the quarter-finals of the national cup where they will face teams from the South-East, London and Wales.
