A TALENTED dad has almost bagged a cameo role in one of the most eagerly-anticipated films of the year.

IT worker Matt Broughton, 33, has beaten stiff competition from hundreds of other men across the country to be chosen as one of four finalists in Disney XD’s Toy Story 3 cameo competition.

When entering in March, Matt recorded a line from the movie and uploaded it at the website www.disneyxd.co.uk Now, he has the chance to become a movie star in the UK version of Toy Story 3, due out in July. If successful, he will do the the voiceover for a green Army man – the character whose line he recorded on the website.

He was prompted to enter the competition by his five-year-old son Reef, a big Toy Story fan, after seeing an advert on the Disney XD channel.

Matt and Reef, who goes to Westborough Primary School, Westcliff, will now attend a professional audition at the world-famous Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire on Monday.

Matt, who lives with his wife Carly, 30, and has two other children, Naia, three, and Logan, one, said: “I had actually forgotten all about it. I didn’t believe it at first. I was over the moon.

“It’s not every day you get a shot at being involved in a blockbuster movie like Toy Story 3.

“Reef is proud of his dad and really excited about the audition.

“We can’t wait to go to Pinewood Studios to find out whether I’ll get my chance to become a movie star. I’d like to think I’ve a good chance of winning.”

The results from the audition will be sent to California where the Walt Disney Studios team will judge who is the best.
