Revellers at an Ealing pole dancing club were shocked to see the mayor of Ealing watching the X-rated routines.

Stunned clubbers were amazed when The Mayor, Councillor Mrs Hazel Ware, walked into the LA Confidential club in High Street, Ealing, on Thursday, March 27.

One astonished onlooker, who did not want to be named, told the Ealing Times: "Everyone in the club was very shocked to see the Mayor walk in wearing her ceremonial chain. She actually sat down and watched some of the performers for a while. I was surprised to see her sat there and seem to enjoy watching these girls climbing up and down the poles."

Councillor Ware said it had been an eye-opening experience. She said: "It's something I have never seen before so I have nothing to compare it with, but I thought the girls were very graceful and I imagine a lot of work has gone into it."

Councillor Ware said she was at the club after opening a disco at the adjoining Boulevard nightclub, hosted by the deputy-mayor, Amit Kapoor, to raise money for her chosen charities.

After the opening she had been offered a tour of the club.
