Four people have been arrested in connection with vandalism at the Stephen Lawrence Centre.

On February 19, a 19-year-old man and 17-year-old boy were arrested.

A 20-year-old man was arrested yesterday (February 20) and another 17-year-old boy was arrested the same day after going to a south London police station.

All four are bailed to return at a later date.

Eight windows at the £10m centre, in Brookmill Road, Deptford, were smashed on February 14.

They featured a facade by 1998 Turner Prize winner Chris Ofili.

The incident is being investigated by Lewisham CID.

Acting Chief Superintendent at Lewisham CID Richard Martin said: "We are determined to pursue those responsible for this criminal act.

"Police do know there were several motorists and pedal cyclists in the area of Brookmill Road, Deptford, at the time of the offence.

"We would urge anyone with information to come forward and contact police."

The centre was opened on February 7 by Mayor of London Ken Livingstone and Stephen's mother Doreen.

It aims to help young people aged from 14 to 25 to pursue careers in architecture.
