Labour are best for pensioners

AFTER reading the Conservative Party’s advertisement around the Thurrock Gazette last week, I then watched on the news the terrible indictment of this Government’s two years in power and the severe austerity cuts causing more than 128,000 people to seek help from charity food banks.

I would remind pensioners to remember that at the start of the next tax year, any tax-paying pensioner will lose the expected rise to the age related allowance.

If you contact your MP, they will go on about the £5.30 increase in the state pension, but will not mention the ever increasing cost of living.

I can’t wait for next year’s Budget to see George Osborne’s millionaire friends get another little present when he drops the top rate of tax to 40p in the pound. I just wonder whether he will reduce the age allowance down to £10,000 I would hope pensioners have voted in the council elections for the party that really looks after pensioners, the Labour Party. – PETER ARBER, Rayleigh Road, Stanford-le-Hope.
