  • "I am so sick of reading these comments from miserable people that clearly do not have children or have forgotten what the school run is like because their kids are now older! I agree that some parents drive and park ridiculously around the school but the majority of us have respect for the residents around us. Schools have to be where the children are believe it or not, so are bound to be where someone lives. The school run is for a matter of minutes a day for christ sake, did you not see the school opposite you when you bought your properties! You chose to live there remember! For those residents that report getting abused by mums at the school, maybe its because you are outside at drop of and collection times making comments and winding them all up! As it is the police stop us parking to collect our children, at all schools in Chafford, and the schools are constantly sending home letters to parents urging them to respect those around us, which most of us acknowledge. Maybe you should go to the education department to express your concerns with parking as they give our chafford school places to those who live outside of Chafford, making parents have to drive to collect their children and blocking your roads, and leaving us residents that can walk to school with no spaces in the school for our kids. It is not the school that is to blame nor the parents. What do you suggest we do abandon our children at school!!! Such a stupid thing to be complaning about!"

School-run parking is a nightmare again

NOW the Easter holidays are over, back they come like locusts.

I mean the school parents in their cars, parking on the pavements, parking on bends, blocking T-junctions and throwing rubbish out of their cars.

If these people read the Highway Code these are all offences and this is happening three times a day.

When your drive is blocked and you say anything to them, you get abuse back telling you we should not have bought a house near a school.

For their information I have lived here for more than 14 years. We don’t need all this abuse and law-breaking. My wife is disabled and she can’t even walk on the pavement, she has to go in the road. This also goes for mums with pushchairs.

I suggest all the council officials, police and traffic wardens visit these roads from 8.30am until 9.15am, then again at lunchtime and in the afternoon when it’s time to come home from school. Then they will see the problem themselves.

We have been to the nearby school, have phoned the council and spoken to the police – each one tells you to get in touch with each other.

So tell me where do we go from here? We would be prepared to have permit parking. – REG DUFF, Catharine Close, Chafford Hundred.
