Rules should apply to horse riders too

READING M Harvey’s letter last week I agree, horse riders should be responsible for the mess they leave behind.

At Orsett Recreation Ground, riders leave their horses’ mess for the council to clear up. But this does not happen.

It is then cleared by others or spread about when the grass is cut, which makes it worse to clear up.

The horses cause damage to the ground, which is then dangerous to other users.

The council asks riders to keep to the edge, but it doesn't always happen.

There is a lovely play area on the ground and it’s wrong that horses’ mess should be left near it.

It is not only drivers of cars who need to be considerate, horse owners too need to consider those who are repairing the damage and cleaning up after them. – NAME AND ADDRESS SUPPLIED.
