I read with interest the article in this paper (March 27 page 28) concerning the levy that Thurrock ratepayers have to contribute towards a park which is well outside of Thurrock's boundaries.
This has been a charge that the ratepayers have had to bear for many, many years.
I just wonder how many of the residents of the borough use these facilities, which are a very great distance away from us. Very few i bet.
Only those with cars can reach this park. What about all the non-drivers in the borough and the OAP's?
It would be interesting for Andy Lever (Thurrock Council spokesman) to ascertain if other authorities ie Harlow, Chelmsford, Brentwood, Southend, Watford, St Albans pay this levy or are we, in Thurrock, the only mugs paying this charge?
Maybe he can investigate and advise us?
