STANFORD Forum would like to take this opportunity to thank all those residents that completed the recent East Thurrock Masterplan "Issues & Options" consultation.
The Stanford Forum arranged additional local advertising of the consultation as well as taking our display trailer into Stanford-le-Hope town centre on a number of occasions trying to encourage people to complete the questionnaire.
It has been confirmed by James Bompas of Thurock Thames Gateway Development Corporation that "the East Thurrock Masterplan "Issues and Options" has attracted the largest response rate to date" of all of the consultations in Thurrock.
There were a total of 4,793 responses, the results can be seen by going to our web page www.stanfordcf.org.uk and accessing the East Thurrock Masterplan Page.
The fact that so many people have responded means that all the Community Forums in the area (The Stanford Forum Corringham & Fobbing and The Homesteads) can fight for what a large proportion of the residents have asked for, from a position of strength rather than being accused of not being representative.
When the next stage of the East Thurrock Masterplan the "Preferred Option" consultation takes place in the summer I hope even more people are encouraged to take part.
Terry Piccolo,
Chair Stanford Forum.

It is becoming increasingly clear that the only parts of the so called re development of Thurrock that are going to materialise are the extra houses to house all of those people the government wants to move out of London.
There will be little or no investment in infrastructure or the required services.
Thurrock will become and overcrowded pressure cooker waiting to blow. The government merely wants to move the problems out of the capital.
What remains of the communities in Thurrock at the moment will disappear because more and more people that have lived in Thurrock for years will move.
The TGDC have stripped the council of planning decisions for one reason only. So they can bulldoze through any plans they want. 1,400 new "homes" on a tiny plot of land in West Thurrock and other ridiculous plans for the same in Purfleet are but a taster of what is to come.
Where is the development of the roads, schools, medical facilities, leisure facilities and open spaces to g owith these new "homes"?
We need to stop TGDC now before the damage that has already been done turns into a complete disaster for Thurrock residents.
