EVERY day tipper lorries queue to enter a site at East Tilbury and discharge loads onto greenbelt land and construct huge hills of waste, scarring the landscape beyond all recognition, causing immense environmental damage, all in breach of planning permissions.
What does the Council planning department do about it?
Nothing!
How on earth can the Council's chief executive, Angie Ridgwell, boast about, I quote, "having the best person for the job in all cases" when probably the largest breach of planning regulations in the country is occurring under her very nose, is beyond me.
Isn't it about time Thurrock residents, and in this particular case, East Tilbury people, get some service for the taxes they pay to provide the salaries of these highly paid officials.
Enforcement notice should be given without further delay to Walsh & Sons Ltd. and the full weight of the law applied to ensure the tipping site is returned to farmland at the previous ground levels.
Anything short of this action would suggest collaboration with a rogue firm who are making a mockery of our planning laws.
R. Hutson,
East Tilbury.
