Conmen steal £500 from home

CROOKS stole £500 cash after conning their way into a man's home.

The two thieves knocked at the house of the 59-year-old man in West Road, South Ockendon claiming they had come to fix the garden fence.

The victim let the men in and while one kept him busy in the kitchen the other one crept upstairs and stole the money.

One of the men is described as white, aged 20 to 30, 5ft 6ins tall.

He had a round face, ginger hair, spoke with an Irish accent and wore a pale blue top.

His accomplice is described as 5ft 2ins tall and had a thin face, dark hair, wore dark clothing and also spoke with an Irish accent.

Witnesses to the incident, which happened at 11am last Friday, April 25 are asked to contact Grays police on 0300 333 4444.
