THE normal monthly meeting of the Thurrock U3A at the civic Hall was preceded by an extra-ordinary meeting to vote on two proposed alterations to the constitution: to increase the annual subscription to include the cost of refreshments at monthly meetings and to extend the maximum period that a principle officer can remain in office from three years to five years.

Both motions were carried.

Following the EGM the well attended meeting was entertained by Chris Winter, an undertaker, speaking on the subject 'Where there's a Will, There's a Relative'.

This proved to be an extremely humorous dissertation on some of the less sombre aspects of the undertaking profession.

Details were given about the activities of the various groups, including outings and theatre visits.

The next monthly meeting will be at the same venue at 10am. on Wednesday, May 28.
