3:49pm Monday 28th April 2008
THE meeting on April 23, St George's Day, began as usual with the singing of Jerusalem.
Guest speaker Mel Rees spoke on "My Family and Other Setbacks" and entertained with much humour about his own life as an only child and a keen train spotter.
He spoke about his parents and how humour can be found just in everyday life and events. Members were heard to comment that they could have listened to him all night.
The competition, a four line poem entitled "My Family" was won by Katie Buttle.
The next meeting in Emmanuel Church is on May 28 at 7.30pm when we shall be decorating flower pots, under the tuition of Shirley Perkins.
