THURROCK ANTIQUES AND COLLECTORS CLUB

THE April meeting attracted several visitors for the celebrity lecture by Paul Atterbury.

His illustrated talk this time was Designing Women, who became famous in the pottery industry.

The club will be looking forward to his return again next year.

Local teacher David Tweddle was able to come to our May meeting and give us a lecture on the Treasures of the Mediterranean, with many illustrations taken off the beaten track, not in tourist itineries.

He explained how geography, geology and climate had affected migration, artefacts and art.

He was given a very appreciative vote of thanks.

Programme secretary Sheila Billins gave details of the forthcoming fully booked coach outing to St Albans and Knebworth House.

Our next meeting was due to take place on Wednesday (June 6) with a talk on furniture, followed by general valuations, by Mark Stacey.
