THURROCK PROBUS CLUB

PRESIDENT Ted Haines extended a warm welcome to members in attendance for the club’s April meeting and AGM.

Following lunch, the meeting turned to the formal business of the AGM which confirmed the handover of the post of president from Ted Haines to the new president John Illing.

The meeting also confirmed the new committee for the coming year, the main officers being Dick Spanton (treasurer), Trevor Peters (secretary), Don Baines (speaker secretary), Ken Liggins (vice-president and assistant treasurer) and Paul Clancy (assistant secretary).

The meeting then enjoyed a talk by Graham Bendall, a gamekeeper.

He told of his work in the management of the habitat in which game birds are reared and on the organisation of shoots.

The meeting closed with the drawing of the monthly raffle and confirmation of the arrangements for the May Ladies Day lunch, to be held on Tuesday, May 1.
