GAVEL-WIELDING Bernie and fast-talking auctioneer Pat Cross were the star members in January – auctioning off unwanted items donated by those present, and helping us not only to have a fun-filled evening but also to make over £150 for our funds. Unless there was a reserve specified, items which attracted no bids were compulsorily sold for 50p to the member whose name was chosen at random – which produced some very inappropriate purchases!
