YOUNG panto enthusiasts are being invited to enter an art competition to design the front cover of this year’s panto programme.

This year’s production of Cinderella at the Thameside Theatre stars Gemma Bissix, of EastEnders and Hollyoaks fame, as Fairy Flustered, Chris Sammons, from The Bill, as Buttons and West End star Wain Douglas as Muriel, one of the ugly sisters.

The show programme will be on sale at each of the 54 performances and will be seen by more than 20,000 people during the run, which begins on Friday, December 7, and ends on Sunday, January 6, 2013.

Children aged 11 and under are being challenged to draw bright and colourful pictures for the programme’s cover, inspired by the story of Cinderella.

Characters such as Prince Charming, the Ugly Sisters, Buttons, Dandini and Fairy Flustered could all form part of the art work, which should be submitted for consideration by Friday, October 26.

The prize includes meeting the cast and mayor Yash Gupta for lunch on Sunday, December 1, as well as a family ticket to a show.

Cllr Lynn Worrall said: “This competition is a great way to get children in the community involved in the pantomime. I wish everyone lots of luck!”

Send your entry with your name, address, telephone number and age to Pantomime Art Competition, Thameside Theatre, Orsett Road, Grays, RM17 5DX.

Entries will be judged by Gemma Bissix and Chris Sammons.
