Paint clue to botched burglary

POLICE are hoping to trace burglars who may have left a crime scene dirty handed.

The break-in happened when thieves tried to force their way into a flat in Palmers Drive, Grays, between 5pm on Thursday, October 11, and 10am on Saturday, October 14, through a conservatory window, but failed.

However, a nearby fence they climbed was doused with anti-climb paint that stains skin and clothes, so detectives hope this may help trace the culprits.

Det Con Kerry McCarthy, investigating officer, said: “We’re keen to hear from people who recall seeing anyone with dark paint on them, which may look suspicious.”

Call detectives at Grays police on 101.
