A BARN dance held at the Orsett Village Hall has raised £1,120 for Macmillan Nurses in Essex.

Organiser Nicola Lock, from Chafford Hundred, was thrilled with how the night went.

She said: “I was overwhelmed when the event got fully sold out and 120 people turned up to support it.

“The atmosphere was just brilliant, I was truly touched by the generosity of local businesses who very kindly donated prizes for the raffle on the night.

“There were always loads of people on the dance floor and even though you didn’t always know the person you ended up dancing with, it didn’t matter because everyone was so friendly and got into the spirit of the evening.

“The music and caller were provided by the Jacobs Creek Barn Dance Band and they did an absolutely amazing job and donated their modest fee directly to their own charity, Gorkha Learning for Life.

“There were lots of requests for the event to become an annual one, so watch this space!”
