A CHARITY concert with singer Benny Gallagher will be held at East Thurrock United Football Club in Corringham on Saturday, November 3.

The Memorandom event is set to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society, and will kick off 7.30pm.

Benny Gallagher is one half of hit makers and blue chip songwriters Gallagher & Lyle, and began his career as a staff writer with the Beatles music company, Apple, writing songs for Apple Records biggest artist Mary Hopkin.

He and Lyle were behind the 1970s hits When I’m Dead and Gone and Malt and Barley Blues, among others.

A spokesman for Gallagher said he is very much in demand.

He said: “For sheer quality and distinction you need look no further than the career of Benny Gallagher. “Over the last few years, in between song-writing visits to Nashville, and composing soundtracks for film and television, he has toured Australia, the Middle and Far East, Europe, and the UK as bassist and vocalist with the Manfreds.”

Gallagher has worked with some of the greats including Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, Pete Townsend, Ronnie Lane, Ronnie Wood, Gary Brooker and Elkie Brooks to name but a few.

Joining Gallagher on stage will be the Jeff Green Project, the Grandees, Robert Zimmerframe Experience, Riff Raff and a compere and DJ Geoff Cullen.

Tickets are £11.50 in advance through Paypal when you e-mail holistictiller@ hotmail.com, or £15 on the door on the night.
