VETERAN councillor Diana Hale has been recognised by the Labour party for outstanding service.

The councillor for Stifford Clays was presented with the Merit Award by Labour leader Ed Miliband and Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Thurrock Polly Billington at the Labour party conference last week.

Cllr Hale said: “To receive it from Ed Milliband on the platform at conference in Manchester, my home town, was the icing on the cake.”

You have to feel sorry for the woman, it looks like Milliband has been grabbed for the photo. Surely you'd have posed it better than that.
