Award for timber company

The award presentation The award presentation

A TIMBER company has won a national business award.

Horndon Timber Products went to the Savoy Hotel to collect its award for Small Timber Business of the Year.

The award was handed to it by Timber Trades Journal, with Nick Hewitt, from the TV show The Apprentice, making the presentation.

Mark Dempster, of Horndon Timber, said: “We would like to thank all our customers and suppliers.”

What rubbish reporting!! This is a local firm that has seemingly done well in a trade competition. I would be interested in learning the criteria for the award competition; the precise nature of the award; and the number of businesses that entered the competition, and if these were from throughout the UK. And I am sure that if Mark Dempster was asked he could come up with something more than "We would like to thank all our customers and suppliers".

The problem is this good news and naturally demands less space than bad news.
Now if they could dig some dirt on the firm, it would be banner headlines and fill several spaces, even if it only required this amount of space.
Also this is The Gazette and they'd never let news space get in the way of advertising space.
