Chippie closed after blaze

A FISH and chip shop has been forced to close until further notice after suffering fire damage.

The fire broke out in the ventilation pipes of King Neptune, in Defoe Parade, Chadwell St Mary, last Friday.

Fire crews from Orsett, Grays and Corringham were called to the scene at 1.55pm. They battled the blaze for 40 minutes.

The shop now has a sign on the door saying it will be closed until further notice due to the damage.
