Hamza tweets land councillor in hot water

THURROCK Council’s ruling Labour group has finally lost patience with controversial councillor Aaron Kiely – after he sent Tweets appearing to support Islamic hate cleric Abu Hamza.

Ockendon Cllr Kiely – who has been maligned by opposition councillors for this poor attendance record at council meetings – took to Twitter to criticise the “shame” of the Government for “deporting British citizens to the bastion of human rights that is the USA”, together with a link to an article about Hamza’s extradition.

Now Labour councillors are set to instigate disciplinary action against their colleague, although they stressed it was for a cumulation of incidents and not just the Hamza episode.

Cllr John Kent, leader of Thurrock Council, stressed: “We have been concerned about Aaron’s attendance at council meetings and some aspects of his behaviour and commitment to the council for some time.

“As Aaron is a very young man, we have been giving him every help and support we can.

“However, it has now become necessary for us to instigate disciplinary action and it would therefore be inappropriate for us to comment further at this time.”

The council’s Conservative group immediately seized upon the controversy.

Ockendon Tory Cllr Barry Johnson said “It’s grotesque Cllr Kiely thinks it’s inappropriate to deport a convicted terrorist to the USA to face further terrorism charges.

“This is a man found with a terrorist encyclopaedia and who allegedly said he was “happy, jumping up and down” over the September 11 tragedy.

“These views do not represent the people of Ockendon and they do not represent the people of Thurrock. The Labour leadership should be doing more to keep their loose cannon councillor under control.”

Cllr Kiely has long been a target for the Tories for his attendance record at council meetings, which at 33 per cent is the lowest for any councillor at the authority.

At the last full council meeting, Cllr Ben Maney jokingly asked if Mr Kiely was ill, saying: “I’d like some assurance about the health of Cllr Kiely, we are all very concerned on this side of the chamber.”

He also landed himself in hot water last August when he tweeted about the London riots.

The student said it was “difficult to dismiss people at these protests as violent thugs” as there were “huge and complex problems with poverty and police racism”.

He later apologised.

It was only a matter of time before the Labour group took action against this councillor...I use this term loosely. He has really let down the people of Ockendon and if Cllr Kent has any sense he will get rid of him and allow someone new to stand in the ward.

You are right Bernard87, but I guess that a big problem for Mr Kent is that if this councillor were to resign and Labour were to lose an election in Ockendon, it would upset the balance of power. I am sure, however, that Mr Kent and the Labour group collectively has done all it could to get this councillor to properly do the job for which he was elected and the Hamza nonsense was the last straw.

Terrorists don't have human rights. They want to take away our human rights by committing terrorist atrocities.

Anyone who supports that hook-handed animal needs their head tested.

Why is anyone surprised at this. He supported last years riots. He believes that this country is still colonialist. Now he supports terrorists. He takes money under false pretences from people he purports to represent. Then he has the audacity to moralise. Morally he's a crook and an enemy of this country. He should have gone with those that were deported.

What galls me is how it has taken the local Labour Party so long to actually do anything about this sorry waste of space for a Councillor.

He should be thrown out of the party completely, however the weak Labour Leadership will probably just give him a another slap on the wrist and tell him not to do it again.

It is time for the people of Ockendon to take action and to protest to Mr Kent to force him to throw this pathetic piece of trash out of the borough.

He used to post brainless leftie comments on here a few years ago when he was just a harmless kid, how 'we' ever voted him in I'll never know.
That being said, with views like that he'll probably be labour leader one day!

Wow Cllr Kent is now having him investigated, not due to the lack of him not being there for his constituents, or the level of abuse chucked his way in the local press!!!!!

Now it’s gone National Cllr Kent has no choice, look at Labour in Thurrock, Councillor in Ockendon earning 7K for 30 minutes work whilst everyone else suffers.

And as for supporting someone that preaches hate on the world, and would happily support terrorism, what a Joke he is.

This bloke really is not a true Labour Cllr. The Labour party has been infiltrated by these globalist, liberal elite new world order puppets for years. The true Labour Party i.e. one that represented the collective interests of British working persons ceased to exist back in the mid 1990’s.

They have a loathing for this country and its heritage and culture.
Hence the decison to change this country forever by importing millions Africans and Muslims from 1997 to 2010.

When cllr's act like this, do we really want to vote them in? Does this Councillor think he is back at school? Shocking!

And people wonder why the public are getting fed up with backbiting in politics!
