Chorus on lookout for new blood
3:00pm Sunday 7th October 2012 in News
THURROCK Community Chorus is on the lookout for new members.
The chorus, which was started up by the Royal Opera House, is holding an open rehearsal for potential new members at the National Skills Academy’s new backstage centre at the High House Production Park, in Purfleet, on Monday, October 15.
The auditions start at 7.15pm and are open to anyone interested in finding out more about the chorus – there is no need to book in advance.
A spokesman for ROH said: “Do you love singing? Would you like to learn how to sing with other people and perform in concert?
“Then the Royal Opera House Thurrock Community Chorus needs you.
“We recruit new members just a couple of times a year, so the chorus can focus on developing and learning singing skills.
“It is a lively group, but everyone takes the music very seriously and is open to anyone living in Thurrock aged eight and above.
“Experienced singers are welcome, but there is no need to have any previous singing experience to join the chorus. If you want to sing, the chorus wants you.”
The chorus has been established for 18 months and has more than 80 members of all ages and abilities.
It rehearses every Monday during term-time from 7.15pm to 9.30pm at the Backstage Centre.
The chorus’s next concert will be with the Royal Opera Chorus at the Backstage Centre, on Saturday, October 13, at 7.30pm.
Tickets from the Royal Opera House box office on 0207 3044000.
