Caitlin's princess dream comes true

Caitlin Foulger as princess Aurora, with family and friends at the event
A LITTLE girl battling leukaemia had “tears in her eyes” as her wish to be a princess was granted.
Five-year-old Caitlin Foulger, from Grays, was whisked off to a special party at Ye Olde Plough House, in Bulphan, last Friday.
Waiting to take the princess to the ball was a beautiful horse and carriage.
Cailtin’s mum, Alisha Stevens, said: “Caitlin was absolutely gobsmacked, she was trying to jump into the horse and carriage before it had even stopped!
“She had tears in her eyes – the whole family was getting a bit teary, as it was so lovely her wish was being granted.”
Cailtin was dressed as her favourite Disney princess, Aurora, from Sleeping Beauty, and got to wear a pretty pink dress and a long blonde wig, as chemotherapy has seen the brave youngster lose all her own hair.
When she arrived at the venue, Caitlin was greeted by her friends and more of her family as well as children’s entertainer, Daisy Doodle.
The whole day was made possible by the charity Rays of Sunshine, which grants wishes to sick children.
Alisha said: “I’m so grateful to the charity and everyone involved in the day – I can’t have imagined a better day, everyone was amazing.
“I’d really recommend Rays of Sunshine to any families with children dealing with cancer. Caitlin hasn’t stopped talking about it.”
Just days after her dream day, Caitlin, of Seabrooke Rise, was taken to Basildon Hospital with shingles.
Alisha said: “She is in a lot of pain and we have had to stop her chemotherapy while she is treated, but if she continues to do well she will hopefully be out of hospital in a few days.”
