Council strategy gets an update

AN updated version of Thurrock’s Community Strategy has been agreed by the full council.

The strategy is the long-term vision for the borough on how to address its needs.

Its vision is to make Thurrock a “place of opportunity, enterprise and excellence, where individuals, communities and businesses flourish”.

Conservative group leader, Phil Anderson, spoke in support of the strategy, which was first brought in by his group when it was in power.

He said: “People from outside our borough sometimes look on Thurrock as a place of political turmoil.

“This runs the risk of deterring investment and preventing us from being taken seriously by our partners and by Government.

“The fact that we have adopted and consistently maintained a strategic vision sends a clear message that Thurrock knows where it wants to be and is united about the things that really matter.”
