MORE than 20 children have been picked to appear in panto at the Thameside Theatre.

Around 100 hopefuls turned up to audition for a part in Cinderella, starring EastEnders and Hollyoaks actress Gemma Bissix and The Bill’s Chris Simmons.

The 22 children picked have earned a role in the chorus and will be split into three teams performing on alternate days of the 55 show run, starting rehearsals in November.

The chorus includes a number of youngsters from Stanford-le-Hope, Grays and Basildon.

Cinderella runs at the theatre, in Orsett Road, Grays, from Friday, December 7, to Sunday, January 6.
