Quartet on trial over murder bid
10:12am Wednesday 26th September 2012 in News
FOUR men from Thurrock are on trial accused of conspiring to murder a man from Clacton.
Jamie Usedon, 23, was left for dead after a knife attack outside his home in Dudley Road, Clacton, on March 15.
Dale Frame, 25, Daniel Yates, 40, Robert Knight, 50, and Edwin Schreech-Powell, 30, are alleged to have been involved in planning and carrying out the attack. Each denies conspiring to murder Mr Usedon.
Chelmsford Crown Court heard on Tuesday how Mr Usedon, who had been working on a demolition job on a railway site near Godmanchester, was stabbed just minutes after being dropped at home.
Mr Usedon told the court how two men dressed in black and armed with large kitchen knives suddenly appeared after he got out his friend’s van, shortly after 6pm.
One of the men started stabbing him as he tried to get the knife from him.
He said: “He was slashing, stabbing, thrusting, trying to put the knife in me.
“My arm was the first to get done when I tried to grab the knife.
“The next thing I was on the floor and he was standing over me still stabbing me in the neck. He stabbed me two times in the neck.”
Mr Usedon spent two weeks in hospital after the attack.
He had been stabbed twice in the chest, twice in the neck close to vital arteries, twice to his back, once to his right wrist and one which severed a little finger.
The prosecution has alleged Frame, of Broxbourne Drive, South Ockendon, and Yates, of Araglen Avenue, South Ockendon, were the knifemen who had been driven to the scene by taxi driver Knight, of Lowlands Road, Aveley.
Schreech-Powell, of Garth Road, South Ockendon, is alleged to have planned the operation.
