Mayor lends his support to shoebox appeal for troops
7:00am Sunday 23rd September 2012 in News
THURROCK Mayor Yash Gupta has leant his support to Grays Shopping Centre’s shoebox campaign.
The shopping centre is urging people to bring in shoeboxes filled with every day items which will be sent out to soldiers serving abroad in Afghanistan and other countries.
Cllr Gupta said: “I wholeheartedly support the great work that Grays Town Centre and the residents of Thurrock have put into Operation Shoe Box.
“It is really important that we offer the troops as much support as possible and this is an excellent way of doing just that. I urge anyone who is yet to fill a shoe box to do so and show their
support for this worthy cause.”
Everyone who donates a shoebox is asked to tape £2 onto the outside of the box to help with delivery expenses.
Shoe boxes can be brought to the shopping centre’s management suite.
