A BRAND new music studio in the heart of Grays has opened its doors to young people.
The studio, at the Thurrock Careers building, formerly Connexions, in Orsett Road, was officially opened by Thurrock Mayor Yash Gupta.
Cllr Gupta said: “I am happy that in these modern times, young people can now have a career in music.
“Thurrock Council has a great music services department which is a great pride for Thurrock.
“I encourage everyone to spread the word and get young people to come around to use the studio.”
The launch saw Daniel and Nicole Boran from Ockendon giving renditions of Romeo and Juliet, Jamaican Rumba and Hungarian Dance, and there was also a medley of songs from popular Tilbury based
singer-song writer Tall Dark Friend.
Carmel Littleton, Thurrock Council’s head of learning and universal outcomes said: “I am proud of the great work going on with young people in Thurrock and I hope the new studio will inspire young people to go after music careers.”
Chris Burgess, a personal adviser for Thurrock Careers added: “I am excited and about this opportunity for our Thurrock youngsters because it’s not just about the studio, it’s all about music
careers and prospects.”
After the launch there was an opportunity for young people to find out about college courses, apprenticeships, university courses and Princes Trust voluntary work that is open to then over at the
Thurrock Learning Shop, in George Street, Grays.
