Food honour for The Bell pub

THE Bell Inn has been named the best dining pub in Essex in this year’s Good Pub Guide.
The 15th century pub, in High Road, Horndon-on-the-Hill, is well-known for its excellent food.
John and Christine Vereker are the second generation of their family to run the pub in the last 70 years, having taken over from Christine’s parents in 1970.
The pub also made the last ten to be named Pub of The Year 2012.
The Good Pub Guide is seen by many as the industry’s Oscars.
Awards are chosen following recommendations from visitors, and all entries are inspected anonymously by the editorial team.
